I bought a new MAC and didn’t want to share my kids disk in the study with them so I built my own desk! I used two pieces of Ash from the lumber yard that were 1x9x10′ I wrote the plans for 1×4 pine from any big box home improvement store!

For this project I used wood that I had in my garage from my local lumber yard. This was Ash that measured out 1″x9″x10′. However, the plans are written for 1x4x10 pine from any big box store or you can purchase the same wood I did at your local lumber yard.
At the lumber yard I asked them to rip a straight edge for me before bringing it home (this is usually free charge) so I started with cutting the first piece to size for my table top. In the plans I allow for trimming on each side of 10′ piece because I always get rid of the rough edges on either side.
After cutting the board to length and deciding how I want the grain to line up I trimmed it to width using my table saw as a measurement guide. I put the board in between the blade and the fence and then used that measurement to then cut 1/4″ of each rough side. I used the straight edge side as my guide to ensure each side was a straight edge.
I also ran the wood thru my planer to get an even thickness, but if you don’t have a planer this process can be done with a sander after you’ve glued up your wood.
I glued the two pieces together and clamped it together. I lightly sanded the glue squeeze out once it had dried before letting the rest of the glue laminate to the wood overnight.
Cut your legs into the four pieces listed in the cut list and then add KREG JIG pocket holes according to the plan underneath the base and on the top of the horizontal pieces that attach to the vertical leg pieces. This should leave you with TWO legs.
Add four pocket holes to each side of the apron and then attach to the two legs. I forgot to take a picture of this step. I’ve included a picture from the plan below for demonstration.
The last step is to add the top to your base using 1 1/2″ screws from the apron into the top.
