My daughters room recently got a glow up with a board and batten faux brick wall. Here's how I did it:
I removed the old base board and replaced it with a wider 1×4 primed piece of molding. This is optional, but I like the look of it better and feel like a wider molding fits with a board and batten better.
Cut and glue the board panels according to the size of your wall for the bottom part of the accent wall that’s going to be the board and batten. Once the board is up paint it with KILZ primer.
While the primer was drying I started working on the faux brick panels. I purchased the panels from Home Depot. Here’s what they look like when you line them up next to each other. IF you were to just glue them to the wall without this next trick, then your results would look like the pictures below.
Take the panel and cut out every other brick as shown below.
The panels should fit together like a puzzle.
For me it was easier to pre-paint the panels with primer before bringing them upstairs to install.
Using liquid nails and a finish nailer install the faux brick panels above the board panels. Fill the gaps with DAP premium wood filler.
Once all the faux brick panels have been primed and filled, its time for the molding on the board and batten. I purchased 1×4 primed pieces of molding from Home Depot. After cutting them to length I brought them up and started with one on each end and then moved toward the middle using level to make sure they were straight and measuring to make sure they were equal distance from each other.
Time for caulk and final paint.
I used Decorator White by PPG in Semi-Gloss and Alex caulk by DAP.
As part of her glow up I sprayed all her furniture her favorite color yellow with my Wagner Flexio 3000.
And made some honeycomb shelves for her wall.
